The gold tetra (Hemigrammus rodwayi) is a species of small freshwater fish in the family Characidae native to lowland South America, where they are abundant in coastal floodplains. Their name comes from a powdery golden tint on their body that is thought to be caused by internal parasites.

习性:个性温和,具吸引力,虽有几个小缺点,但不致影响到混养的其他鱼种,自然繁殖是极为困难的。
食性:肉食性、杂食性,喜食薄片饲料,冷冻干燥食物及小型活饵。
注意事项:它很容易生病,而且特别容易受到吸虫及皮肤寄生虫的感染。鱼类会分泌鸟粪嘌呤来保护它们的皮肤,看起来好像洒了一层金粉一般,这也因此解释了它的英文名的由来。
