Boraras maculatus is a species of ray-finned fish in the genus Boraras. It grows to be .8 inches long at adulthood. At one time, the smallest known cyprinid species, the Boraras Maculatus is a beautiful fish with body colors ranging from deep red to orange surrounding a distinctive black dot. Its fins range from deep red to clear with red-lined and red with black-lined.

本鱼鱼体外型不匀称,尾柄特别细长。侧腹上的黑斑与大点波鱼的斑纹相似。体成橙色,鱼鳍呈浅红色,背鳍前面几根鳍条为黑色和粉红色,雄鱼的侧腹较平。体长约2.5公分,为世界最小的鲤科鱼种之一
